Travel & Logistics

We’re so excited to see you in Mexico!

As part of your travel planning, we recommend that you purchase travel insurance that covers your booking for unforeseen events and interruptions, of your trip. We also suggest purchasing refundable fights or flight protection.

Arrival in Mexico City

Mexico City is on the high plateau of Anáhuac in the Valley of Mexico, clocking in at nearly 7,400 feet in elevation. Be sure to set your clocks—in Mexico City you’re on Central Standard Time, which is +2 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time and -6 hours behind GMT / UTC.

Trip Start

We'll meet at 9am on Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City. We recommend arriving at least one full day prior to the start of your trip in the case of unforeseen circumstances or travel delays. For information on where to stay the night before, see the following Pre-Arrival Accommodations section.

Arrival Airport

The best airport to fly into is Mexico City International Airport (MEX), about a 20-minute drive or taxi from The Four Seasons Hotel.

Transfer from Airport

We recommend booking a taxi through our pre-arrival accommodations hotel (see below) approximately 30 days ahead of your arrival.

Alternatively, you can organize your own taxi upon arrival at MEX airport. Taxis are easy to find: once you clear security and collect your bags, taxis can be found at the entrance of both Terminal 1 (domestic) and Terminal 2 (international and domestic). The usual fare to downtown Mexico City is 250 to 300 pesos, and you can purchase your ticket at the booths near the arrival gates in the walkway area. Rideshare apps such as Uber are also available. For more information, visit Mexico City's airport transit website.

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

If you plan to arrive in Mexico City prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at the Four Seasons Hotel (see Our Accommodations section), which is also our meeting spot on Day One. Please contact the hotel directly to book, and let them know you will be on a trip with Modern Adventure and would like to extend your stay prior to the trip start. We will try to avoid unnecessary room changes, allowing you to stay in the same room from start to finish—however, please note that this is not always an option and room types vary and are subject to change.

If the Four Seasons is booked, we also recommend Red Tree House (Culiacan 6 Colonia, Condesa 06100, Mexico City, tel. +52 55 5584-3829), an artsy boutique that's within a short walk of cafes, galleries and restaurants in the Condesa neighborhood.

Departure from Mexico City

Trip End

Our trip ends in Mexico City on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, after wonderful days of exploration, connection, and delicious food and drink. If possible, we recommend joining the group transfer back to MEX airport with Modern Adventure on our final day.

Departure Airport

We recommend booking your outbound flights from Mexico City International Airport (MEX), the same airport we started at.

Transfer to Airport

After breakfast on our last day, Modern Adventure will provide a complimentary transfer to Mexico City’s MEX airport. If you would like to join this transfer, your flight home should depart from MEX at 2pm or later.

Please note: If you book a flight that leaves earlier than 2pm, or if you are planning on extending your time in Mexico City, it is your responsibility to arrange alternative transportation from Mexico City to the airport.

Post-Trip Accommodations

We hope you have the opportunity to extend your stay in Porto. If so, we recommend staying at the Four Seasons Hotel (see Our Accommodations section). Please note that any post-trip accommodations are your responsibility to book, and reservations can be made directly by contacting the hotel.
